Basil Moftah is a seasoned investor, advisor, and company builder with a strong track record of scaling disruptive technology ventures across MENA, Europe, and Asia. As Managing Partner of Key Capital, the region’s first secondary-focused VC, he provides founders with liquidity solutions and offers global investors unique access to mature, high-growth companies. Over the past decade, Basil has invested more than $200M in 70+ ventures, including leading fintechs such as Paymob, MamoPay, Tabby, Patsnap, Zid, and Khazna. Earlier in his career, he co-founded the Reuters Venture Capital group, backing iconic companies like Netscape, Yahoo!, and Webex. He went on to lead Reuters’ $600M emerging markets business and later served as President of its $1B Intellectual Property & Science division, where he prepared the unit for its $3.55B sale. Basil is a trusted board member and advisor to global technology companies. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
